Creating Unique Pet Portraits of Your Special Friend

One of the coolest things about being a Dallas Portrait Photographer is getting to meet and connect with great people and their special little friends.

Let’s be honest though, “special friends” is a gross understatement.

If you’re like me, your pet is far more than a friend.

For me, my cat “Tiddo” is the only one who is always happy to see me, never complains, unless he wants food of course, and regardless of how bad I screw things up, he will never judge me.

That’s why creating Unique Pet Portraits is so much fun.

A Portrait isn’t just a Portrait

When I started Photillustrator, I did so because I couldn’t stand the idea of creating traditional Family Portraits where everyone is lined up in a nice pyramid formation, wearing matching clothes, and smiling for the camera.

For me, that’s not fun, and it doesn’t tell the story of who you are.

The same holds true with your Pet’s Portrait.

While there are some really good Pet Photographers out there doing fine work, the portraits they’re producing fail to arouse emotions and look like the photos of pets you see on Instagram.

You should look at your Pet’s Portrait and feel something.

I couple of Pet Photographers I believe have hit the mark with Pet Portraits is Kaylee Greer of Dog Breath Photography, and Sharon Montrose who was a commercial Pet Photographer.

Both great artists who understand your pet is more than just a pet.

And both understanding a portrait isn’t just a portrait.

Creating Unique Pet Portraits

So, taking inspiration from some of Pet Photography’s leaders, and from my Photillustrator style, I set out to create Unique Pet Portraits.

Which, BTW, is NOT an easy task.

My goal is to create beautiful Pet Portraits of your dog or cat, that captures their true soul and personality.

I want you to FEEL something when you see your dog’s portrait.

Frank is a beautiful Vizsla who has a very energetic personality when you first meet him.

However, with the help of the client, Frank calmed down long enough to capture a portrait that saw beyond the energy to capture the true essence of this lovable pooch.

How could you not feel something when you look at Frank in this Pet Portrait?

More Nice Pet Portraits

Capturing that perfect Portrait of your Pet is the art, and my goal every time is to find that one artistic moment with your pet.

However, there are many other nice photos that come out of my Pet Portrait Sessions.

These additional Pet Portraits make great smaller prints for your shelf or the office, and are frequently shared on social media.

Time to Stop Barking

I could go on-and-on about creating Unique Pet Portraits of your lovable fury companion, but it’s time for me to Stop Barking, and get back to work.
