I think it’s fair to say that a traditional boring family portrait can’t even begin to capture the craziness of the times we’re living in today.
From everything shutting down because of COVID to the suggestion of injecting bleach into our veins to wildfires to hurricanes to RBG passing weeks before the election, how could a regular photo ever capture what it’s like to be alive right now?
Well, I didn’t want to get through these crazy times without something to remember it by, so I’ve been creating fun family portraits of my family so we could all look back in the years to come and remember these uniquely different times.

The Mohawk
Sometimes you just have to take one for the team, which is exactly what I did by letting my kids shave a mohawk into my hair.
The great thing about my creative family portraits is that I can shave your head right in Photoshop without a clipper ever touching your head.
HOWEVER…
For this creative portrait I call “Mohawk”, I put the Wacom tablet pen down and pulled out the clippers to shave a mohawk into my hair the old fashioned way.
How does this work?
Now, you might be wondering, “How in the world do you create all these crazy pictures?”
Of course, that’s all very TOP SECRET.

The Photography

Before I can start laying down any of the artwork, I first have to capture the photos that will serve as my canvas.
While the original photos don’t look like anything special, there’s actually a lot of planning with angles and lighting that must be considered.
Your portrait will only be as good as the photos we start with.
